1. “Spawn Centerfold” by Joe Monaco

2. “Back from Hell” by Fabio Babich

3. “Feeding Frenzy” by Craig Bruyn

One thing I love about Spawn is that he is a really dark, gritty character that you very rarely see all his details. I think its part of the mood and success of the character. I wanted my rendition of the character to capture that dark shadowy feel and at the same time convey a sense of real weight to the character as he descends into the tumult below. I always saw Spawn as a somewhat heavy character even though he could fly. I wanted him to look like he was ready to go and mix it up with the Violator and his pals as opposed to the more nimble spandex wearing type.

I tried to mix a high contrast monochromatic style that had elements of detail and elements of frenzied mess to it. It was important that the frenzy below be just that; a mish mash of lost detail, sprayed blood, and lots of teeth.

Composition wise, i wanted to use the bats as a way to guide the viewers eye through the scene so that the followed Spawn down into the pack as he got amongst it.

Finally, although I love colour, i really wanted my illustration to slap the viewer in the face and I think the confronting nature of the high contrast B/W serves this well. Due to the sheer amount of noise throughout the piece I deliberately set the buildings in grey - partly to create some depth as sometimes high contrast can lose that and also as to not compete with the foreground action (It was however important to have the backdrop as I have never been a fan of comic art that doesn’t use some backgrounds - setting being just as important as action).

4. untitled by Carlos Sebastian Beccaria

5. “Spawn the Defiant” by Mike Sekowski

Even before starting this piece I knew I wanted my Spawn to be easily recognized by fans, and therefore it was important to keep some of the classic characteristics that make Spawn who he is intact. While doing this, I also wanted to minimize those aspects as to have enough originality that he could be his own character. Hopefully those elements met somewhere in the middle in my concept.

6. untitled by Joe and Rob Sharp

As long time Spawn and Whilce Portacio fans we thought this was an excuse to finally do a Spawn piece. We went with a pretty straight forward comic book approach - pencils, inks, colours. However the work was created entirely within Photoshop on our Wacom Cintiqs. We actually went with a look more closely resembling the first Spawn image we ever saw: Todd’s breathtaking Spawn Issue 1 cover. That image was the piece that made us decide that we wanted to become artists. It was such a joy to draw our single favourite comic book character and the possibility of winning a Whilce original was too good an opportunity to pass up.

7. “The Final Inauguration” by Kyle Michael Wilson

I decided to portray the beginning of the end. This picture is of Al Simmon’s assassination moment, where he is reborn or recruited as a lieutenant in Hell’s army becoming… Hellspawn!

8. “Spawn Aftermath” by Adriano “Andy” Carreon

9. “Spawned by a Wiseapple” by Robert S. Luciano

I did it in marker originally in a friends sketchbook and when I saw this contest I decided to play around with the original marker scan and add a few things to it. I wanted to capture the creepier side of Spawn in this one.

10. “Hot Under the Collar” by Rob Chope

11. “Light Within Darkness” by Eric Esculier

12. “Spawn Evolved” by Hector Arce

I decided to use this media because of my love for Todd McFarlane action figures and the inspiration they’ve given me throughout the years. They are the reason I decided to start sculpting. This version of Spawn is his next step in his evolution, I made his gauntlets come to life by spiking and curving all over the place. Wanted to stay true to the original aesthetic while changing it enough to be considered as a new step in Spawn’s costume evolution.

13. untitled by Michael Smith

My image is inspired by the covers of the first five issues of Spawn (they still blow me away!). So I tried to do something along those lines, his cape flapping everywhere and McFarlane-style bats flying everywhere. Spawn was one of the comics that really heightened my artistic horizons and made me push myself to create art with more detail (and hopefully more impact). I remember almost falling over with excitement every time I managed to get my hands on the latest issue of Spawn. The art’s always awesome, from Todd McFarlane to Greg Capullo and Ashley Wood (three of the most awesome artists in the comics industry and my idols!) to name a few. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Whilce Portacio is going to do with Spawn.

14. “Burn World, Burn!” by Bruno Vergauwen

Spawn is wandering the streets he used to know as a man. Now they are burning, and he doesn’t even care any more! He has seen enough evil. It’s the end of Spawn and he’s taking everybody with him…burn world burn!

His cape frees all of the lost souls (I always saw the cape as something like burned flesh, constantly moving, striking fear in his opponents, with it’s vision like shapes).

15. “Spawn’s Posture” by Daniel Sabal

I made this Spawn sculpture using Super sculpey and then painted it with water based tints, then took some pics of it and, finally made this kind of ‘collage’ in Photoshop.

16. “Simple Spawn” by Brent Muir

I found out about this contest yesterday, so my thought process was “make it simple.” I eliminated any line work that I had in my original sketch and went with solid colors instead of shading.

17. untitled by Yves Meza

Those who force themselve alone onto the battlefield will die, losing their souls and eaten by monsters they will live in darkness forever.

18. “Spawn Risen from Betrayal” by Duwayne Reynolds

I was going for a scene when Spawn first came to earth as a Hellspawn.

19. “Hellspawn2.0″ by John Falk

Creative Thought Process: To make cool art. Nothing less.

20. untitled by Dennis Chacon

I have been an artist all my life. My influences in my art have been cartoons like Mazinger-Z, Speed Racer, G.I. Joe, Transformers and many more. Also, artists are a big influence like Frank Frazetta, Todd McFarlane, Joe Kubert, Jim Lee, Art Adams, and Alex Toth. I am always trying to break into the biz but if I can’t I will always keep drawing. I love comics and I can’t see myself doing anything else.

21. “Spawn in Denmark” by Soren Madsen

Spawn is jumping through the air and spectators is looking up upon him. I kind of imagine it is Spawn in Denmark where there are no tall buildings and this is really confusing for him. There’s nowhere to hide.

22. “Fresh Kill By Hand” by Mako Zero

Basically I wanted to give Spawn a more demonic feel. Working from the head down I started by giving Al small horns protruding from the rear of the skull and having the Spawn eye surrounds as overlays that sat on top of his exposed, cracked and damaged face. After a few drafts the horns took over to be protruding from the head, chin and jaw. The eye surround became part of his face (like a mark of Hellspawn) but the cracked face and head stayed in a mix of skull and flesh.

The body was decided almost instantly. I wanted Spawn to be bio-armor plated akin to Guyver and once again sporting the mark of Spawn.

Up until the entry version of Al he was sporting a brimstone gauntlet on his right hand, a brimstone shoulder pad on his left, and brimstone belt. I felt the gauntlet was too reminiscent of Hellboy and was dropped for matching shoulder pads. The chains are a running theme with Spawn to represent his bondage, I guess, so I kept them giving him an asymmetrical layout to break up the symmetry.

23. “Not a King Not a Slave” by Alexandre Gimbel

24. untitled by Luis Diaz

25. “Monkey Fracas Jr.” by Bradley Virgo

I started out with a plan to incorporate all my favourite elements of the Al Simmons Spawn from all my favourite Spawn titles; Spawn, HellSpawn and The Adventures of Spawn, and mash them up with a little something of my own. Throw in my favourite angry gorilla and this is what came out.

    # 4. untitled by Carlos Sebastian Beccaria.
that’s some piece of art. it was really hard to choose between his piece and the 5th, but definietly this is what spawn means to me. GO CARLOS!

  6. Marie Bridgeforth | October 1st, 2008 5:12 pm

I am torn between #14 and #23. After all, the mission was to redesign Spawn as you, the artist, sees him, not just to render a beautiful illustration for a cover. These two show the most diversity in how Spawn should look, according to the artist, not just a re-render how Spawn has looked in his different versions. Some very good illustrations here, all in all.

  7. Kyle Taylor | October 1st, 2008 5:18 pm

There are some amazing pieces in here. I didn’t expect to win and seeing some of these entries I know I wouldn’t have. But I do at least think I should have made the top 25. There are a few in there that aren’t so great. They must have been friends with you guys or something. oh well life’s not fair. back to the drawing board.

  8. wave | October 1st, 2008 6:26 pm

Hellspawn 2.0 by John Falk is the best for me.

I like the color job on #8. I like #14, #10 and #19 equally, but I had to vote for # 23. Keep it up!

  11. John Grui | October 1st, 2008 8:03 pm

I definitely expected to see some amazing artwork It wouldnt be right if a todd mcfarlane contest didnt draw some of the more interesting artists. I did enter however my toon was novice compared to alot of the other pieces I see here. I chose “burn world burn” which is no 14 because of the amazing vision Bruno instills with this great piece of classic artwork. I think he should win because of the awe inspiring immagination he fortifies within the canvas. GREAT WORK BRUNO A+++++++++++++++++++++

  12. Jeremy Horn | October 1st, 2008 8:21 pm

I like #3 that is by Craig Bruyn. I like the details of Spawn and the Violator. Looking at the drawing reminds me of the HBO’s “Spawn: Animated Series.” What is even more cooler is that he did this in pencil and ink.

  16. Martony | October 1st, 2008 11:11 pm

I chose No 3 because the illustration is intricate and detailed , both the character of spawn and the buildings in the background.

  17. Craig Bruyn | October 1st, 2008 11:53 pm

No14 by Bruno Vergauwen is my favourite. Love the way he has reinvented spawn and the logo. The aesthetic is amazing! Beautiful work!

I voted for Hellspawn 2.0, but I also liked the Spawn centerfold. I saved both to my desktop for display on my home theater comic art photo gallery.

Good luck to everyone that was chosen! And for those who didnt get picked, for the next contest we have to step up our game. I really liked 5 and 6. i love concept art and 5 reminded me of that, plus its a kick A$$ design. and 6 is so well drawn and very clean. and it reminds me of Adam Hughes artwork. but my vote went to # 5

  31. Lance d Great | October 2nd, 2008 9:16 am

Wow… those are amazing artworks! The attention to detail is awesome. It’s very difficult to vote for just a sole artwork considering the wide array of style. Anyway, pats to everyone involved! hehe Among my best picks are entries no. 5, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14 - In the end, my vote went to Bruno Vergauwen’s work.

  32. Greg | October 2nd, 2008 10:06 am

    NUMBER 24 IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. Pawel Trojniar | October 2nd, 2008 10:14 am

I hate mr. Falks work i dont believe it should win. I hate how he thinks thats cool to make a shadow portal and the cape some omni us hand and his chains hyper realistic rusted ball breakers thats really is no imagination as to who’s apples are gonna get candied. I voted for 21 i think thats true vision what he did when it seems none of them are original if yo know what i mean. Reminiscent, familiar…but with no point except for 21 his point is obvious.

  34. Pawel Trojniar | October 2nd, 2008 10:26 am

i’m just pist i couldn’t participate in this….maybe next millennium

  41. Corecrow3 | October 2nd, 2008 12:07 pm

How did the sculpture get so many votes all of a sudden?

  42. ????????????? | October 2nd, 2008 12:19 pm

While I absolutely adore 5, 8, 14, and 19, “12 - Spawn Evolved” was the choice for me, as it really presents the desigin aspect well.

It has a regal, noble feel to it; one that effectively communicates to the viewer what the plot of endgame is suspose to be - Spawn’s costume going on an ego trip, telling his host to STFU, and embrace his status and powers as a being that is far beyond God and Satan without moral restraint, as apposed to some of the other entries which just don’t give off a ‘larger then life and death’ [lolpun] message.

While every piece is overwhelmingly amazing in it’s own right, I’m echoing the poster above me in saying ‘12 FTW!’

  43. Ron | October 2nd, 2008 12:22 pm

“Light within darkness” #11 already won a price to an other contest in France !!! Not fun !!

  69. Tim-B | October 2nd, 2008 3:48 pm

    Oh, and I picked #11 : )

  70. Anton | October 2nd, 2008 4:02 pm

    #12!!!

Doesn’t it say enough that this guy actually made a sculpture vs just drawing?

Not to knock on any of the drawings up there– they’re all great. But this piece of work really brings Spawn to life… I feel like I’m looking at an action figure. I want to pick it up and raise hell among all my old GI Joe toys.

    Incredible detail and craftsmanship. Amazing.

    How can anyone disagree?

  71. The Real Spawnomite | October 2nd, 2008 4:47 pm

I voted for #19 in support of my fellow Spawn Boardie.

  72. vanc | October 2nd, 2008 5:20 pm

If #14 doesn’t win, my faith in justice will be lost forever.

  73. vanc | October 2nd, 2008 5:24 pm

Hey Anton, he’s not the only guy that made a sculpture, for the record. And a lot of people will argue that drawing and sculpting aren’t comparable because of the different mediums involved… but no one can sit there and tell me that one person did more work sculpting something than someone did drawing a great picture, because it’s all about skill, regardless of the medium.

Take it from someone who’s skilled in both drawing and sculpting, just as much “work” went into some of the drawings as that sculpt. If you’re good at something, it’s not hard to do anymore, regardless of the trade.

And if you tried to raise hell with that thing and your GIJoes, it would fall apart in your hands. Just sayin.

    ;)

rob chope’s ‘hot under the collar’ stands above the rest.
he shows great detail and contemplation underneath the image, before
adding character and realism that makes you feel like you can step right into, or run away from the scene!

  83. Taku | October 2nd, 2008 8:38 pm

    My vote is for #12.

    Too freakin good!

  84. Javier | October 2nd, 2008 8:45 pm

No. 8 kills it, definitely one of the strongest entries, if not the best. I had the pleasure of meeting Andy Carreon in Artist Alley at the San Diego Comic Con this past summer, his art work is awesome! Not only is he a talented artist, but a real class act, professional all the way. You got my vote Andy!

spawn evolved have a great design but some little problems on anatomy.
Spawn #15 is too basic and not original.

  126. Lois Weiss | October 3rd, 2008 3:20 pm

#20 has my vote. This is just a small sample of the artistic talent Dennis has!!

  133. Mike Sekowski | October 3rd, 2008 7:34 pm

It’s great to see so many artworks done on the same subject while still retaining there own unique styles. I’d name too many if I stated my favorites, so congrats to all instead!

  134. artlover | October 3rd, 2008 10:00 pm

*8 is pure professional talent. It’s incredible art and ART at it’s BEST. This piece is truly McFarlane quality. This concept is straight in line with the McFarlane quality!

  135. Dan Flapper | October 4th, 2008 1:50 am

I love #7. It’s something different. A lot of the others are definitely noteworthy and done by talented artists, but I feel like I’ve seen a lot of them before. They’re pretty generic whereas #7 tells a particular part of the story in a new sort of way. It gets my vote. Cheers to all the artists.

  136. jill | October 4th, 2008 2:18 am

why on earth is 15 winning? i thought this was a spawn REDESIGN contest, there is no redesign in this piece AT ALL. and the anatomy just looks strange, i dunno if its the angle or what but he looks like a midget…

    i’d go for number 5 or 12.

  137. Dean Spencer | October 4th, 2008 6:35 am

    22. “Fresh Kill By Hand” by Mako Zero

My vote is for # 19.

  149. devan | October 4th, 2008 5:01 pm

It’s easy for some to do a great piece of art but a good illustration with a message is more rare….like in this contest.

Some works are great but The number #23 has got a signification…a symbolic message !!! In the same feeling numbers #7 and “14 have too.

  150. danni | October 4th, 2008 5:31 pm

    #12!!!! that takes skizzle!!!

  151. Matt | October 4th, 2008 5:46 pm

Por el #15 de Daniel Salbal excelente trabajo…

  153. Kimberly Rice | October 4th, 2008 7:09 pm

Tough discision… But finally came to choose “Hot under the collar”, by Rob Chope. This peice caught my eye on the first go-over. I was immediately attracted to the submissions that did NOT look like “every other Spawn cover”. It looks like the “norm” is winning though… Sad.

Not only would I buy this cover, It inspires as well. It’s easy to copy-cat, but it’s insane talent that rises above! Great Job, Rob!

  154. danny | October 4th, 2008 8:13 pm

    # 12

  155. Frank | October 4th, 2008 11:34 pm

  161. Marina Martinez | October 5th, 2008 12:55 pm

Daniel Sabal N° 15 Good Job Me encanta!!

  162. Craig Bruyn | October 5th, 2008 3:21 pm

Man, I had so much fun with this comp! There should definitely be more of these. I’ve been inspired to try and churn out some more fan art of Spawn now. If anyone wants to check it ou go to http://redfrog.cgsociety.org/gallery/681914/

Great to see such diversity of entries tho folks. Everybody should be very proud of their efforts. Even those unlucky enough to make the final 25. This comp has really shown the strength of the Spawn fan base and how talented the fans are!!!

More competitions please! There don’t even need to be prizes to be honest. Its just a blast to compete!

  163. Mike Sekowski | October 5th, 2008 4:05 pm

Completely agree Craig. It really was fun, and I would have done it even if there wasn’t any prizes. Oh, and great process shots of your final piece in your gallery as well, including the latest Spawn fan art.

  164. Juan2.0 | October 5th, 2008 4:18 pm

Nice textures in your piece, Craig! :)

  184. Maguis | October 6th, 2008 9:50 am

17!!! it´s so original!!! i just love it!

  185. Troy Knausel | October 6th, 2008 9:51 am

I vote for the N # 15 for quality, the work it does make a piece of sculpture is stronger without removing the merit of the other jobs that I think are very complete, but that fight is definitely among the sculptures for their work and Todd McFarlane may be giving baton has artists such as Daniel Sabal. Gratz

  186. Benjamin | October 6th, 2008 11:49 am

I vote for No.13 untitled by Michael Smith.

  187. Ago | October 6th, 2008 1:43 pm

    The best # 15 Congrats!

  188. anongski | October 6th, 2008 1:56 pm

DUUDE! If we’re voting for SCULPTURE, there’s no CONTEST HERE!
#12 is a much better sculpt than #15. 12 presents a little bit different design
than 15 which is just Spawn w/o the cape and the photoshop work SUX.

    So I voted for #15.

  189. anongski | October 6th, 2008 1:57 pm

    I meant #12

Although all the others have a beautiful look to them, you cannot beat a real, solid, and amazingly sculpted, sculpture! Its detail, overall look, feel and composition, is a definite 10 in my book. That Hector Arce is a professional sculptor!

  195. angelo stanzione | October 6th, 2008 4:23 pm

esta super bueno muy bueno mi voto es para el 15

  196. Scadilla | October 6th, 2008 5:28 pm

    In order of total awesomeness:

    19. “Hellspawn2.0? by John Falk
    14. “Burn World, Burn!” by Bruno Vergauwen
    8. “Spawn Aftermath” by Adriano “Andy” Carreon

  201. Nicolene | October 7th, 2008 1:31 am

    Definitely No. 13

  202. Clive McKinley | October 7th, 2008 1:37 am

I so voted for No 13 - very true to the “spawn” style I love so much and his shading is dead on… looks like McFarlane put in an entry just to pull our chains…

I cant see what the big thing on 15 is - the stance is so un-spawn (looks more Gene Simmons without the tongue)
must say to make a model like this - I’m impressed - but is taking photos art?

  203. MiMi | October 7th, 2008 2:10 am

No 13 rocks, attention to detail is amaizing ………..you have my vote Michael :)

To 50%Grey - No, I have not voted multiple times for myself in this contest. I have no need to cheat to win. I honestly don’t care if I do win, my goal of entering this was never to win…if I do, that’s fine, if I don’t, that’s fine too. But no, I do not need to cheat to try and win this…people are voting for mine because they like the art. Nuff said.

Mi favorito es el Nº 15 ” Spawn’s Posture” by Daniel Sabal. Increible trabajo !

A los comentarios inapropiados les digo:
“La envidia es causada por ver a otro gozar de lo que deseamos; los celos, por ver a otro poseer lo que quisiéramos poseer nosotros”…

    Daniel Excelente trabajo te felicito!!!

How many knee caps do you see on that left knee? I counted 4 knee caps! and
his torso looks like a sack of coins with all da bumps!

My favourite Spawn is the number 15 by Daniel Sabal because I believe is more real than the others pictures. Sorry but my english is very poor , I am Spanish. Thank you and congratulations.

  231. shiara | October 8th, 2008 8:11 am

    I vote for 13 AWESOME

  232. UHaul Master | October 8th, 2008 8:15 am

Everyone here sucks a#% except for number 8! Who and hell is doing the voting? Wake the f#$% up! It’s a drawing contest, not sculpting! WTF!

  233. Samuel | October 8th, 2008 8:31 am

Really cool #15, this is really artwork, congratulations Daniel, #11….no bad.

  234. JaCinda | October 8th, 2008 9:56 am

#8 ROCKS! I vote that one.

  235. Hannes | October 8th, 2008 1:42 pm

#5! I liked that one best cuz it had a neat mix between some kinda futuristic and medivalspawn (kinda), It Fucking rocked. Great artwork´ :D

  236. alex | October 8th, 2008 4:26 pm

well, i love them, they’re awesome but i prefer #5, so you have my vote sekowsky

  237. angela | October 8th, 2008 5:32 pm

to UHaul Master the contest guidelines clearly stated that you could choose any medium you wanted. so if some one wanted to make a spawn design out of knitting it would still be considered for this contest.

what i don’t understand is to why so many people copied previous spawn designs and call it their own? (i’m looking at you 15) i mean wasnt the whole point of this contest to “redesign” spawn…

i dont get why all these spawns are on here that look just like the greg capillo era and other spawn toys…very lame.

  238. Spawnomite | October 8th, 2008 5:43 pm

Good point angela. Alot of knock off styles here.

  239. herminigildo | October 8th, 2008 9:59 pm

  245. Flo | October 9th, 2008 9:18 am

I adore #12 by Hector Arce. I’ve seen the piece in person and it is unbelievable. The craftmanship is superb and the paint is damn fine. The piece speaks for itself and is worthy of winning.

  246. whutTHE? | October 9th, 2008 10:39 am

I’m a sculpture my self and would never thought of entering a sculprture
    in a FREAGIN DRAWING CONTEST!

  247. Juan2.0 | October 9th, 2008 11:12 am

“what i don’t understand is to why so many people copied previous spawn designs and call it their own? (i’m looking at you 15) i mean wasnt the whole point of this contest to “redesign” spawn…”

When this was asked on the Spawn.com message boards, they told us that we were NOT to redesign spawn…but to draw our version of the Al Simmons Spawn.

“what i don’t understand is to why so many people copied previous spawn designs and call it their own? (i’m looking at you 15) i mean wasnt the whole point of this contest to “redesign” spawn…”

    Solution:
Just an artist to play by the rules.

  251. jon | October 9th, 2008 9:53 pm

to whutTHE? the contest rules stated that you could choose any medium you’d like.

if you don’t know what that means well, then look it up.

but that’s what the rules state.

so don’t come here trying to put down those two sculptures, b/c they are as good as any other drawing on here. and obviously if mcfarlane and co picked them then they qualify dont you think?

  252. Dee | October 9th, 2008 10:06 pm

No. 13’s my favourite, love the style and colour palette!

  253. jeff w | October 10th, 2008 12:19 am

  256. Kyle M. | October 10th, 2008 7:58 am

15… really? it looks elementary and the title is crap! If you are voting on sculpture go for 12. It’s more bad ass and just better overall. Really 15? My dog can create something that looks better in the backyard. Good Fido!!!

  257. Kattyán S. | October 10th, 2008 9:01 am

My favorite is #16, it’s terrific

  258. Troy Knausel | October 10th, 2008 9:51 am

Ohhhh my God you are so unprofessional, I wondering this guy maybe is the new ” Leonardo Da Vinci” because you have such a good eye as to criticize the work of this artists contest, seems to me that every job has its essence and we must respect it, so my friend Kyle M. The only thing I can tell you is not worth read coments such of assholes like you, a loser who not got any talent only having sex whit his dog….. sorry fido………GOOD JOB Daniel Sabal # 15 and all participants.

  259. J. Halsbury | October 10th, 2008 11:27 am

I voted for #14, the Vergauwen drawing of “Burn World, Burn.” But I am in an utterly confused state, only because of the ignorance of #9, the “Spawned by a Wiseapple” by Luciano. It has zero votes. I am grateful that my main choice ranked in the sixth position of all twenty five pieces, but stern honesty brings me to professing, ‘Come on! this is bloody ridiculous.’ O to that torment that pains me in my deepest, darkest, most languid of quarterings. For the sake of whomever may eye my inflections, I would consider this a personal opinion.

  260. Spawnomite | October 10th, 2008 11:42 am

  261. AndyC | October 10th, 2008 12:14 pm

Happy to have been included in the top 25! Congrats to everybody and great job by the Spawn crew to have selected 25 different representation of SPAWN.

  262. euroken | October 10th, 2008 3:20 pm

Bruno’s is the best hands down!I’m devastated though that mine didn’t make the cut.So I am taking suggestions on my myspace to how to improve.I don’t think I would have won but I believe mine was better than at least 6 of the ones who made it.My understanding was that it was supposed to be your vision of SPAWN not just a copy.Could have been worse though , 1 rejection is better than 700,lol.Well I’m glad others have the same opinion. But I do love the contests so throw another at me.Spawn fans hit me up at !myspace.com/euroken

  263. Ryan | October 10th, 2008 8:43 pm

I liked 19, 22, and 23. 22 needs some color, but I really like the face and the demonic look. 19 has the dark menacing look Spawn is well known for. The 23rd design is kind of a mix of the first two that I enjoyed. There is some serious talent among these fellow Spawn fans. I wish I had known about the contest before it was too late.

  264. rachael winter | October 11th, 2008 1:55 pm

    Wooh!

  293. Codeman | October 16th, 2008 1:39 am

i chose number 19 because mostly because of the hands is what drawn me in to look further over that particular art piece , why the hands ? they were really well drawn and hands can sometimes be complex to draw , also the color choice , the chains are drawn differently than i would do , i like john falk’s choice on how to draw the chains , they look more like a simple chain that a dog would be leashed onto , spawn in a beast so i think it fits . i would rate it a 10 because john looks like he knows how to draw really well , number 14 is also intriguing although he appears to be more frail zombie like , it still works well i think . Every art piece here is good in its own way .

  294. Mr. Muche | October 16th, 2008 2:27 am

How the hell did some of these pieces get so many votes? The only ones even worth voting for are 5, 12 and 13. Atleast 12 made the top 3. 15 and 19 are a joke and it’s a shame that they’re even in the top 2 considering I saw 7 others that I’d vote for first. I don’t even have a piece of work up there and i’m furious. I can’t imagine submitting something and being cheated like this. Some of these artists are probably shaking with so much anger, they aren’t able to sleep at night.

  295. Mr. Muche | October 16th, 2008 2:39 am

Mr Muche again and i’m even angrier. I just scrolled up to read some of these comments and wtf is some of this sh*t? ” 15 !” “7 !” “vote 22.” Some of these people aren’t even leaving comments with substance. I swear it’s probably just the artist getting a bunch of his boyfriends to vote for him. I can just imagine him walking down the hallway at school going “hey guys, did you vote for me??” “YEA DUDE!!” as they continue to high five each other.

  296. cr4cx3r | October 16th, 2008 6:51 am

15??? Are you serious??? WTF??? Smell’s fishy to me. Seriously??? 15???

  297. delfanye | October 16th, 2008 6:56 am

Yep I agree with Mr. MUCHE !! some dudes votes for the 15 but I think they are tasteless…this piece equal a vintage first spawn figure made by Mac Farlane…(but with a bad pose)

Nothing extraordinary…but what else… people are sometimes dumbs.

#10 “Hot under the Collar” this piece is burnin up the competition.
The artist has captured the physicality of Spawns burning rage.
A rage that is required to drive this charachter back into the hot seat!

8 and 19 seem best. If you can put that much detail in a very detail oriented character than you probably draw almost anything.

The #5 Spawn The Defiant is a masterpiece, brilliant, it captures the contest requirement: Spawn EVOLUTION. The artworks in first places actually, are impressive, good, but they don’t acomplish the principal contest objective, maybe Hellspawn 2.0 a little bit. Mike, you are my hero!, even if you don’t win, you ought to feel so proud. You are an absolute artist!

  323. Mike Sekowski | October 19th, 2008 10:37 am
