The Legend of the Demon Samurai
Samurai Spawn did not deliver the deathblow. To grant his killers a warrior's death would bestow honor upon them. Accompanied by Dojo's cruel applause, Takeda took the assassins' swords and armor, and left them to die under the burning sun. They would die in shame, not as Samurai.

Takeda, the Samurai Spawn, had his revenge and was content. He thanked Dojo and asked to be returned to his grave where he would rest in peace having killed those who murdered him.

Dojo laughed in Takeda's face. A deal had been made. It would not be broken. Now Takeda would serve the darkness and lead the legions of the damned. Samurai Spawn refused, and did what no Hellspawn had dared before ... he turned his back on the demon Dojo.

Dojo exploded. Dojo raved. Dojo showed the Samurai Spawn his hidden form. From his small body a great beast erupted! This creature was known as Jyaaku, the Nightmare, a being so fierce that even the devils of the fire pits hid when it came near.

Whether it was bravery or simple arrogance that drove Samurai Spawn that day, he turned and faced the Nightmare and fought. Fist and blade, Takeda battled for his freedom and his immortal soul. He fought Jyaaku for hours that turned into days and finally weeks with neither side showing any sign of surrender.

At last, the unending concussion of violence echoed so loud that the heavens themselves tore open and a magical vision appeared on the battleground: a mystical legend known as Lotus, the Angel Warrior; a female Samurai warrior from the heavens. She came down, gliding through the clouds like a feather on a breeze, and she stood between Jyaaku and Spawn. Lotus declared that the fight would not continue upon the mountain where the gods' gaze fell.
