December 3, 1999
The numbers are in and they are impressive. Theater estimates for the weekend of Dec. 3-5 had the new Tim Burton flick, "Sleepy Hollow," in the No. 4 position. In just three weeks of release the film has grossed more than $72 million.

And the McFarlane Toys action figures based on the characters in the film are fairly flying off store shelves. The Headless Horseman deluxe box set sold out before the movie even opened. Don't worry, though, Headless fans, additional box sets are being reproduced to meet the demand. The figures should be on shelves in January. The remaining line of figures is selling almost as well. Remaining stocks are expected to sell out by Christmas.

Todd McFarlane and Tim Burton did a day of publicity in New York - including a spot on CBS' "The Early Show" with Bryant Gumble and an AOL online chat -- on Nov. 19 to celebrate the opening of the movie.
The day culminated with a signing at the FAO Schwarz flagship store in Manhattan. Hundreds of fans waited up to four hours to have materials signed by this dynamic duo.
During the AOL chat, it was announced that McFarlane Toys has plans to produce an Edward Scissorhands figure in 2000. Plus, there has also been talk between Todd and Tim about possible figures from Burton's classic "Nightmare Before Christmas" movie.
Stay tuned for more details.
