Starting Sunday, Feb. 9, look for a signed set of McFarlane's Sports Picks: MLB Series 1 to be up for auction on eBay as part of a philanthropic program developed by the Major League Baseball Players Association.
"MLBPA Direct," an online store located on eBay Sports, will host weekly auctions on eBay featuring unique items, ranging from new product releases from Players Choice licensees -- including limited-edition and "MLBPA Direct"-only products -- to authentic game-used equipment, signed memorabilia and one-of-a-kind experiences.
The Sports Picks auction will be the first of several featuring sets of baseball figures signed by Todd. Portions of the proceeds from "MLBPA Direct" will benefit the Players Trust for Children, a not-for-profit foundation created and administered by Major League baseball players.
Go to http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/mlbpa_direct for more information about the auctions. Additional updates will be provided on the spawn.com sports message board.
"MLBPA Direct is sure to become an instant hit with baseball fans everywhere. Never before have fans of any sport been given an ongoing chance to bid on authentic game-used equipment, attendance at events that get them up close and personal with the game's biggest stars and exciting new licensed products unavailable anywhere else," said Evan Kaplan, MLBPA category manager for trading cards and collectibles. "In addition, partnering with eBay Sports offers 'MLBPA Direct' instant access to a retail platform with over 55 million registered users, which will give Players Choice licensees greater exposure for their product offerings."
"As the leading sports commerce site on the Internet, eBay Sports is committed to offering fans the most unique and complete sports experience," said Bob Hebeler, vice president of eBay Sports. "With the opening of MLBPA Direct, consumers will have exclusive access to products, memorabilia and the players themselves. No other retail environment can provide fans with these offerings."
