'SPAWN' ARTISTS INCLUDED IN PRESTIGIOUS 'SPECTRUM 14'

The SPAWN art team has done us proud. Again.

SPAWN artists Greg Capullo, Brian Haberlin, Aleksi Briclot, Philip Tan and Jay Anacleto were all chosen from a large field of their peers for inclusion in the prestigious Spectrum 14, to be published later this year.

Spectrum was established in 1993 with the intent of providing creators with a regular showcase for the best fantasy, science fiction, horror, and otherwise un-categorizable artwork created each year. Spectrum was the first art annual to specifically feature categories devoted to 3-D, comics and unpublished works.

From spectrumfantasticart.com: "Spectrum doesn't exist to categorize or define fantastic art. Rather, it exists to honor the imaginations of very special artists who delight in helping us see the world in a wonderfully different light. It's our job to help them reach a wider appreciative audience. More eyes means more opportunities."

The McFarlane artists were singled out from applicants from all over the world. A blue-ribbon panel of artists, illustrators, art directors and industry professionals waded through thousands of entries, choosing the year's best.

Capullo, for one is a longtime fan. "Over the years, I'd purchased Spectrum to ogle the fantastic art contained within," he says. "It's a tremendous thrill to have my work accepted for publication. Especially given the relatively short time that I've been producing digitally painted art."

Congratulations to the guys for their stellar work!

Spectrum 14, published by Underwood Books, will be available in stores in November. For more information, visit www.spectrumfantasticart.com.

AND SPEAKING OF GREG CAPULLO...
One of McFarlane's favorite sons, Greg Capullo, has hit another one out of the park, helming the cover artwork for a new IDW book, Gene Simmons' House of Horrors, based on sketch by Todd McFarlane.

Capullo, for one is a longtime fan. "Over the years, I'd purchased Spectrum to ogle the fantastic art contained within," he says. "It's a tremendous thrill to have my work accepted for publication. Especially given the relatively short time that I've been producing digitally painted art."
