We at McFarlane Toys were glued to the tube for Sunday night's Academy Awards telecast -- eagerly awaiting the outcome of Best Animated Feature Film. Two of the three nominated films -- Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride -- are close to our hearts, as we make the complete action figure lines for both.

Nick Park and Steve Box, directors of Were-rabbit, went home with the top honor. Were-rabbit marked the fifth nomination for Park, whose Aardman Companies previously received nods for four other animated short films, winning Oscars for A Close Shave, (1995) The Wrong Trousers, (1995) and Creature Comforts (1990).

"Both Steve Box and myself are just overjoyed and feel very privileged to have won this Oscar," says Park on the Aardman Companies Web site (www.aardman.com). "The crew at Aardman deserve this award for all the fantastic work they put into making Curse of the Were-rabbit such a success around the world. It was great to have Peter Sallis with us at the awards, he has been the voice of Wallace for 23 years and I can't thank him enough."

Corpse Bride may not have won the Oscar, but it has been widely hailed as one of Tim Burton's greatest stop-action animated films, winning the hearts of legions of fans. In honor of the film's DVD release, we released a special Corpse Bride 2-pack, re-creating the image from the film's original poster. See it here.

If you've been living under a rock and haven't seen our great Were-rabbit and Corpse Bride figures, take a look at our online features. You'll find complete toy photos and specs, QuickTime VR movies, lots of downloadable extras and more.
