America Online and Turner Network Television have teamed up to promote the start of the 2002-03 NBA season with the "NBA Tip-Off" promotion, which runs through Dec. 2, 2002.
Why should you care, action figure fanatic? Well, because you can win cool stuff, including toys from McFarlane.
Fans can access the "NBA Tip-Off" promotion at AOL Keyword: NBA Tip-Off, tnt.tv and NBA.com (click the contest links on the TNT and NBA sites). There, fans can take part in a number of interactive challenges and enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win a VIP trip for two to the Atlanta-based TNT studio and an opportunity to meet Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson. The winner will also attend an NBA basketball game. Other prizes include McFarlane Toys collectible NBA action figures and a new book titled Basketball's Best Shots.
Consumers can enter the sweepstakes by playing "Guess the Identity," a game that reveals images of NBA players, and challenges online participants to guess the identity of those players. Fans can also enter the sweepstakes by answering NBA Trivia and participating in a poll. The sweepstakes will allow one entry per day for a total of 35 maximum total entries per person. TNT's exclusive 2002-03 NBA coverage begins the19th consecutive year that Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. networks will televise the NBA.
The 2002-2003 NBA season signals the start of a new, six-year television agreement between the NBA and TNT. Under the new deal, TNT will televise 52 regular-season primetime NBA games for the 2002-2003 season -- 48 of which will be part of Thursday night exclusive doubleheaders -- as well as an NBA All-Star Friday show, NBA All-Star Saturday events and, for the first time ever on cable, the NBA All-Star Game. In addition, the network will also air approximately 45 NBA playoff games in the first two rounds and, on an exclusive basis, the Conference semi-finals and one Conference Finals series. For 2002-2003, TNT will air the Western Conference Finals.
