Baseball Sales Spike During October Promotion
Thursday, December 12, 2002

In October, to celebrate baseball's postseason, McFarlane Toys teamed with Major League Baseball Properties and Toys "R" Us Times Square to turn the store's Windows on Broadway feature shop into an exciting, interactive and product-filled Major League Baseball shop.

The international flagship in New York City shop featured a large selection of MLB licensed products, not the least of which was a window display of two-up scale prototypes of McFarlane Toys' Roberto Alomar, Roger Clemens, Jason Giambi and Mike Piazza action figures. The store brought in additional McFarlane's Sports Picks: MLB action figures for sale during the event.

We're happy to report that the display helped spark sales during its run. According to Mindy Clements, head of merchandising for the store, new sales records were set during October. She estimated sales rose some 50 percent over normal during that time. She also reported, though many baseball lovers came specifically to purchase baseball product, many left with Spawn and other action figures, too.

We're planning another promotion with the store in March to coincide with spring training.
