The SOULCALIBUR II video game is en route to stores at this very moment. This Namco title is one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, the followup to the phenomenally successful and groundbreaking original SOULCALIBUR. It will be available for PS2, GameCube and Xbox platforms, each containing a guest fighter (Nintendo's Link on GameCube, Todd McFarlane's comic book hero Spawn on Xbox and Namco's own Heihachi of Tekken fame on PS2).

In addition to the 15 characters returning from the original game, SOULCALIBUR II features a new character, Necrid, designed by Todd McFarlane.

"We have finely tuned every aspect of game play to make the release of SOULCALIBUR II an event well worth waiting for," said Jim Atkiss, product marketing manager at Namco Hometek Inc. "The game has already taken top honors as 'Best Fighting Game' at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, and it's poised to exceed expectations and take home even more awards by year's end."

With 10 game modes, a host of unlockable costumes and arenas, and more than 200 collectible weapons and items, SOULCALIBUR II delivers the intense fighting action that fans have come to expect of the series.

As part of the nationwide release, Namco is working with two retailers on a special debut Monday, Aug. 25 in New York and Los Angeles. The Electronics Boutique store in Union Square (107 East 14th Street, New York) and the Gamestop store (333 East Main Street, Suite A, Alhambra, CA) are having a game launch night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., a day before the game is officially released.

Extreme "Soul" fans are invited to celebrate with refreshments and a variety of game-related festivities. SOULCALIBUR II video game tournaments, contests and an "enter-to-win" sweepstakes will be offered, in which the winner will receive an official SOULCALIBUR II arcade system.

Not to be outdone, is holding its own SOULCALIBUR II contest. We will be giving away one set of SCII figures and a game to the grand-prize winner. Two runners-up will receive the game only on the platform of their choice. To enter, e-mail by noon PST Thursday, Aug. 28. The e-mail should contain your name and full mailing address.
