Evil Prophecy and Spawn Titles Still on Target
Friday, September 05, 2003

Our first video game project of the year, SOULCALIBUR II from Namco, has hit the shelves. The Xbox version of the game features Spawn as a playable character and McFarlane Toys released an accompanying series of incredibly detailed 4-inch-scale action figures. The fluidity of the characters' movement in the game is amazing and SOULCALIBUR II has been getting rave reviews in the gaming press. Congratulations to Namco on another successful title.

But our trigger fingers are just getting warming up.

As reported several months ago, we've got a couple more electronic gaming projects in the works.

First up is the new Namco title Spawn, based obviously on Todd's signature character.

The game is a mission-based action/adventure set against the backdrop of a darker, near-future New York City environment. It will be available simultaneously for PS2, Xbox and GameCube systems. Its controls allow the player to utilize a range of acrobatic jumps, glides and climbs throughout the vast city. A combo-based hand-to-hand combat engine will allow the player to deliver many different attacks and devastating moves to punish his enemies. The player will also have access to all of Spawn's distinctive abilities -- his superhuman strength, his arsenal of weaponry, his Hell powers and, of course, his living symbiotic costume. If you are a fan of the Spawn character in SCII you won't want to miss this game, as the SCII developers had a hand in this character's development.

Spawn is caught between factions in the battle of Good vs. Evil. Players will encounter a variety of enemies through more than 30 interactive and destructible environments, as Spawn struggles to break free of the controlling forces of Heaven and Hell.

In news you won't find anywhere else, look for characters in the game that just may make appearances in other Spawn mediums. The Spawn game from Namco is set for a November 25, 2003 release.

Next up is McFarlane's Evil Prophecy, a new PS2 game from Konami, based on McFarlane's Monsters Series 1 action figures from 2002. The action-adventure game is set in a chaotic early 19th century world where monster hunters (the PS2 gamer) are the only thing standing between six great awoken evils -- Dracula, Frankenstein, Werewolf, Voodoo Queen, Sea Creature and Mummy -- and the end of the world. As of this writing, McFarlane's Evil Prophecy is set for a spring 2004 release.
