New Namco Title Available For All Three Gaming Platforms
Friday, November 21, 2003

Hey gamers, the wait is finally over, as Spawn and his, um, friends, return to your small- or big-screen TVs next week in the video game Spawn: Armageddon.

Namco Hometek Inc. has begun shipping the highly anticipated, third-person action-adventure game to retail stores nationwide. Now available for PlayStation2, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube, Spawn: Armageddon is rated M for Mature and has an MSRP of $49.99.

"Spawn: Armageddon is poised to surprise a lot of people," said Glen Cureton, producer at Namco Hometek Inc. "This game's unique evolution of what continues to be an excellent comic book storyline into one of today's high-tech video games has been an amazing process. We have no doubt that the close working relationship between Namco Hometek Inc. and Todd McFarlane Productions has resulted in an excellent interactive representation of the Spawn: Armageddon franchise."

Developed by Southern California-based Point of View, Spawn: Armageddon is a 3-D action/adventure game positioning the main character, Spawn, in a personal conflict between factions in the battle of Heaven and Hell. Players will encounter a variety of enemies through 23 challenging missions, including comic favorites Cy-Gor, Violator and Redeemer. The game will also feature Spawn's many distinctive abilities including superhuman strength, hand-to-hand combat, an arsenal of weaponry, Hell Powers and his living symbiotic costume.

By now, you're all saying: "Hey, where is the 'win a free game' contest?" Well, we can't go into many details, but our special-needs contest intern Cochise has been recently detained by the authorities and thus we're not able to run the contest this week. We've hired a crack legal team and expect it to be cleared up quickly. Look for more details soon and keep Cochise in your thoughts.

In related events, the Namco Spawn College Campus program will start at 20 schools in December. Namco is developing Spawn tournaments at each campus and dates will vary. Look to in the coming weeks for details as those tournaments roll out.

A Spawn: Armageddon mini-Web site is also in development. The site, like the game, is aimed at viewers ages 17 and up. It features info and images of the main characters and weapons, as well as screen shots and two videos. Additionally, interested fans can sign up for e-mail updates about the game as well as click through to links of the main partners, such as PlayStation, Xbox, GameCube and Spawn.

Finally, European gamers in and around England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy can look forward to playing the game in March 2004. Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, announced plans this week to publish Spawn: Armageddon for Namco Limited across PAL territories. As with the U.S. version, the game will be available on PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube platforms. The game will be fully localized into English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
