EXCLUSIVE NBA TWO-PACK SOLD OUT AT NBA JAM SESSION
Staffers Return Home from LA Event; Contest Winners Announced
Friday, February 20, 2004
McFarlane Toys and our spawn.com staffers drove off to Hollywood last week to take part in the NBA Jam Session during All-Star weekend in Los Angeles. (Click here to read all the initial event details.) The McFarlane booth showcased the upcoming NBA 6 lineup, along with two-up sculpts of several popular players, and also the initial 3-inch lineups.
It was the first time we've ever been an exhibitor at an NBA-specific event.
Four thousand exclusive two-packs were sold at the event, showcasing Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal and Clippers forward Elton Brand. We had exclusives available during the entire event, giving everyone who attended a chance to purchase the figures.
Owner and founder Todd McFarlane was in Los Angeles on Thursday and signed autographs at the booth for two hours. The very popular NBA backboard accessory was available at the event in limited quantities. At a limit of one per customer, the 150 backboards still sold out midway through the first day. There will be more backboards available through the Collector's Club on spawn.com in April.
Our thanks to the employees of the NBA, the Convention Center and the Staples Center for showing us such a great time at the NBA Jam Session.
Spawn.com also held a contest to give away a couple sets of the NBA exclusive two-pack to our fans who wouldn't be able to attend the event. We had several thousand entries and two lucky winners were randomly chosen.Charles Ayers of Richmond, VA, is the grand-prize winner, who'll receive a set of the exclusives signed by Todd.Fabian Ortega of Helotes, TX, is the runner-up, and he'll receive an unsigned two-pack.Thanks to everyone who entered the contest and even more thanks to those who checked us out in Los Angeles. Thanks for coming by.
