McFARLANE TOYS STORE GRAND OPENING SATURDAY, OCT. 16, 2004
We're Throwing a Party for All Our Fans
Friday, August 27, 2004
On Saturday, October 16th (mark your calendars, now), in Tempe, AZ, two years of planning and several months of fan anticipation finally culminates with a massive party the likes of which you have never seen, so...
Come one! Come all! Ladies and Gentlemen! Children of all ages!
Located at 8945 South Harl, suite 112 in Tempe, AZ (just one block east of the I-10 freeway), the Grand Opening will be held from 8AM-5PM and will feature a number of extraordinary opportunities and all fans who make the pilgrimage to our newly created Mecca of all things McFarlane, including...
An autograph session - Signing from 10AM-4PM, this is an almost once in a lifetime chance to rub elbows with the creative minds behind the figures and comics you know and love...
Todd McFarlane -- Legendary comic book creator and the man responsible for everything you see on this Web site - from comic books (Spawn, Case Files: Sam & Twitch, etc.) to the action figures (Spawn, Movie Maniacs, Sports Picks, etc.), movies (Spawn, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys) and animation (Todd McFarlane's Spawn, Pearl Jam's Do the Evolution) to video games (Spawn: Armageddon, McFarlane's Evil Prophecy) and everything in-between.
Greg Capullo -- Comic book artist extraordinaire, whose amazingly detailed style and incredible desire to grow and evolve as an artist (have you seen his new digital artwork?) have made him a fan-favorite. Greg first made a name for himself while working on Marvel Comics X-Force, but he has left an unmistakable mark on the landscape of the comic book industry with his breathtaking work on Spawn and his creator-owned title, The Creech.
Ed Frank -- Chief toy designer and head of the McFarlane Design Group, located in New Jersey. Ed is Todd's right hand man when it comes to creating new action figures and perfecting new methods of producing the best figures available today. If there is anything you want to know about the process of creating an action figure -- from idea to sketch to finished, painted product -- Ed Frank can fill you in.
Ask any questions you may have. Get an autograph or two (fans will be allowed to have two items of their choice autographed by each of the signers). If you are a fan or simply a casual collector, you DO NOT want to miss out on this opportunity, because who knows when these three gentlemen will be able to take the time out of their hectic schedules to come together for another event such as this.
Showroom tours - It is a store. A showroom. A museum, if you will, with an ever-growing catalog of new and impressive sights and sounds. Walking through the front door is like entering another world. A fantastical world, where demons and deadmen co-mingle with sporting legends and movie stars. Plasma TVs show McFarlane-related materials on the walls (interviews, highlight reels, etc.). You are surrounded by highly detailed, custom-built sets showcasing the two-up prototypes of our latest figures, including Spawn, sports, horror, music and film figures, and more. The walls are decorated with memorabilia including some items straight from Todd's personal collection (movie posters and props, musical instruments, sporting equipment and more).
Figures, Figures, Figures - Aside from the free comic books and stickers we will be giving away, we will also have a retail operation (located in the covered parking lot south of the Showroom) where collectors can purchase our action figures -- both older and more current releases. An exact list of what we will be offering is not available at the moment, but you can expect to see more details right here on Spawn.com as the weeks roll by.
More, More, More - This is just the tip of the iceberg. A taste of what is to come. We will keep you fully updated on all additional information pertaining to the Grand Opening as we continue to move closer to the big day, which, as a quick reminder is, Saturday, Oct. 16th (not that you didn't know that already, but I figure it's better to be safe than sorry).
This story is still unfolding, but luckily, you are in the right place for all of the latest, up-to-date details, so make sure to check back regularly between now and Saturday the 16th of Oct., because, trust us, you don't want to miss a thing.
