Fans Turn Out to Meet Todd, Buy Mattingly Exclusive
Friday, April 15, 2005

McFarlane Toys produced a 3-inch-scale Don Mattingly baseball figure exclusive to the Toys "R" Us Times Square store in Manhattan. This limited-edition figure immortalizes one of the most popular players in New York Yankees history.

To celebrate the event, Todd McFarlane made an appearance at Toys "R" Us Times Square in conjunction with a Major League Baseball Opening Day promotion and feature shop at Toys "R" Us stores nationwide. McFarlane was on-hand to sign purchases of his latest McFarlane's Sports Picks MLB collectible figures at Toys "R" Us Times Square on Thursday, April 14 from 4-7 pm.

Todd's day in Manhattan began with a jam-packed media gauntlet of appearances and interviews.

A 7:30 AM wake-up call was followed by the quickest breakfast ever witnessed by humans and a cab ride to appear on ESPN2's Cold Pizza. Todd spoke with ESPN vet Linda Cohn about all the hot topics in sports and our upcoming Bonds line.

Then Todd headed to MTV in Times Square where, while waiting in the green room, he spoke with ABC Sports Radio's Todd Ant and then to the usual suspects back in Phoenix, Dan Bickley and Mike Jurecki on XTRA 910 AM. After the two phone interviews it was time to get on the airwaves of MTV Radio, where Todd talked about several pop culture topics.

Next up was a stop at the ESPN ZONE for lunch and a quick hit on ESPN News' Hot Seat.

One of the coolest stops on the tour was the next one when Todd headed over to the Sirius Satellite headquarters. It was incredible to check the place out and see how they track their satellites hovering miles and miles above Earth. Todd was on the Faction channel talking about baseball, hockey, Spawn ... you name it! He had a great time getting the tour and seeing the future home and studio of Howard Stern.

Todd then bolted back to Times Square to Toys "R" Us for the signing, taking time to hang out with the fans in line before being escorted inside. Once inside, Todd did several more interviews before making his way to the signing area.

One word, "wow!" What a great turnout! Hundreds of fans waited in line to have Todd sign their items. After wrapping up the evening around 8 PM, the day was deemed an overwhelming success by everyone who participated. Toys "R" Us had a successful sales day with the Mattingly exclusive as well as other MLB product they had available.

We also held a drawing to win a rare and unique McFarlane¹s Sports Picks 12-inch pewter-washed, hand-painted and hand-cast figure of Derek Jeter, shortstop for the New York Yankees. The winner was randomly selected from all the entries at the event. The lucky one? Tanner Gulick from Cumberland, Maine. He drove all the way from Maine and just found out; he was ecstatic. Congrats, Tanner.

Thanks to all our fans who took their time to come out. You guys continue to show your support in amazing ways and we appreciate it.

And we have a special surprise for those that weren't able to make it to the signing at Toys "R" Us Times Square. We kept aside five 3-inch Donnie Baseball figures and, as a bonus, we will have Todd sign them. Sound good? Click here to enter.
