Friday, July 08, 2005
Several months ago, we officially announced that the spawn.com/McFarlane Toys road crew would be attending Comic-Con International 2005 in San Diego from July 14-17. The story gets better. Spawn creator and McFarlane Toys founder Todd McFarlane will attend the Con, too.
That's right, Todd will be in San Diego and will host a panel, "Todd McFarlane Tells All," on Saturday, July 16, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Room 8. Hear the latest about all the ongoing McFarlane projects including the latest comic, toy, film and animation news from Todd himself in a lively 90-minute discussion. Fans will not want to miss this very interactive Q&A opportunity.
In addition, we've just got confirmed word that Napoleon Dynamite star (and subject of a full action figure line from McFarlane Toys this fall) Jon Heder will make an appearance at the Con. Todd will introduce Jon at 2 p.m. Saturday during the "Todd McFarlane Tells All" panel in Room 8. Jon will appear for 15-20 minutes at the panel and then proceed to the spawn.com booth (#4407) to meet and greet fans from 2:30-3 p.m.
The spawn.com road gang will be in town to showcase some of our newest figures for 2005 and to meet and greet fans at our booth, #4407. We'll have samples of two-up prototypes of current and upcoming figures to show off. McFarlane Toys fans will get a first look at the latest action figures and two-up prototypes of upcoming lines including the highly anticipated upcoming feature films Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (Warner Bros.) and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Aardman) and the hit cult-flick Napoleon Dynamite (Twentieth Century Fox Film), McFarlane's Dragons Series 2, McFarlane's Military: Redeployed, Spawn Series 28 and, of course, a few surprises, too.
Just adjacent to our booth, the fine folks from Conan properties will be setting up their booth and showcasing our Conan action figures among other things. Funcom will show off the award-winning "Age of Conan" video game slated for release next year. The game will offer players the opportunity to exist in the dark, lush, violent and sinful universe that was the true vision of Robert E. Howard. View game footage, get a glimpse of the breathtaking graphics and experience the stunning 7.1 surround audio that have earmarked "Age of Conan" for greatness. This will be the first U.S. public showing of the title that made its debut at E3 2005. Funcom is an Oslo-based company with more than 20 titles released to date. More information can be found at http://www.funcom.com and http://www.ageofconan.com. In addition to the game footage, a McFarlane Toys-designed and custom-built 6-foot Conan throne, based on our deluxe boxed set, will be on display and more than 2,000 visitors will walk away with limited-edition Conan inflatable swords.
