By Janet Jaramillo

Since Hollywood just about shuts down for the last two weeks of the year, the status of our project hasn't really changed. However, it has been awhile since we've shown you artwork from Spawn, The Animation -- so we thought we'd double-up this time!

Characters: The two men in suits comically called Mista L and Mista R are our main antagonist's bodyguards. As you can see they are very similar looking with a few details changed here and there.

Props: As I have mentioned before, EVERY little thing you see must be drawn out. Things you take for granted like peanut shells on the floor and dishes on a countertop that make scenes look realistic are all shown a bit of attention during production. So many times you don't realize how important props are in a scene until they aren't there. Here we show an envelope of money drawn with the flap closed, and a Chianti bottle. Taken alone they seem boring and unimportant, but as part of a scene, they will really help to make things seem real.

Background: As this project has moved forward, I continue to be more and more impressed with the backgrounds in our movie. They are incredibly detailed in black and white -- and just stunning once they are colored. The color palette we work with, as you know, is very dark, but if you look closely there are so many colors in a scene -- again adding to the realism of Spawn's animated world. When we are able to start showing colored renderings of the art, you will see how realistic looking and beautiful these black and whites can look.
