Plus a Comic-Con Wrap-up and Swag Bag Contest
Friday, August 03, 2007

By all accounts, this year's Comic-Con was bigger and better than ever. We had giveaways a-plenty, signings, and our always popular display of upcoming product prototypes.

Our free SPAWN masks were a huge hit, and our Prize Patrol wandered the crowds seeking out the masked and rewarding them for becoming Spawn-like.

We had a lot of traffic at our booth, including LOST producer JJ Abrams and 24 director/executive producer, Jon Cassar. Both were excited by their first look at our new action figures based on their shows.

The signings were also a big draw - in addition to the throngs who came to see the creative teams of SPAWN, The Adventures of Spawn, and SPAWN Godslayer, hundreds of fans (including Rosario Dawson of Sin City and Grindhouse) lined up for the chance to meet Todd and R.A. Salvatore of 38 Studios.

One of the many shining moments of the convention weekend appeared in the form of Todd McFarlane announcing his newest comic project with Robert Kirkman, titled, Haunt.

In case you don't remember, at last year's Con, writer Kirkman (The Walking Dead and Invincible) publicly gave Todd a challenge - do more comics.

Todd took the challenge, provided that Kirkman would be involved. They've spent the last year collaborating, and announced the results during Todd's panel at this year's Con.

"Haunt is the product of an entire year of blood sweat and tears," says Kirkman. "After I confronted Todd in public, he put me to work, and I've never been pushed so hard by an artist/collaborator before. I'm very excited that the news is public, and I can't wait to share this new property with everyone. 2008 is going to be a year to remember for comic fans everywhere - the year Todd McFarlane returned to comics!"

Capping off the announcement, Todd and Robert sat down and signed free Haunt lithographs after the panel.

More information about this new project will post on as it becomes available.

Look for Haunt to hit comic book shelves in early 2008.

One of the best parts of Comic-Con is all the free stuff. If you were unable to attend the Con this year, or in case you just didn't get your hands on enough of the giveaways, we've got a contest for you.

Our intrepid staffers tirelessly combed the expo, taking anything that wasn't nailed down. We've put it all together in one enormous goodie bag, and it can be yours.

The swag bag includes a Haunt lithograph signed by both Todd McFarlane and Robert Kirkman, as well as a Spawn HBO limited-edition, hand-numbered lithograph signed by Todd! Two additional winners will each receive one of these lithos as prizes.
