PHOENIX COMICON WRAP-UP
A Busy Weekend at the McFarlane Toys Booth
Friday, February 01, 2008
McFarlane Toys set up shop at Phoenix Comicon last weekend at the Mesa Convention Center. With almost a 50 percent increase in attendance from last year, the Phoenix Con proved to be a very successful event for all involved.
Our booth hosted daily giveaways featuring The Simpsons, The Godfather and military figures signed by Todd McFarlane. We also displayed some of our upcoming lines, including HALO, one of our most anticipated series.
As a special feature for this year's convention, we also hosted a panel featuring our very own toy concept artist, Jin Han. We were thrilled with the response as Jin spoke about his career path and artistic process. At the end of the panel, attendees joined us back at the McFarlane Booth, for a raffle - a few lucky winners will be receiving some of Jin's original artwork.
"This was my first time at the Phoenix Comicon, and I was really impressed with the attendance," says Han, whose panel drew a sizeable crowd. "It was great seeing that public interest in the design-side of the toy industry, and concept art as a whole, is growing. It's always a good day when artists and designers are acknowledged by the fans who have been so supportive!"
We are really looking forward to next year's Comicon and already have a few surprises in the works. For more information on the event, check out phoenixcomicon.com or stay tuned to SPAWN.com for updates.
