HISTORIC 'SPAWN COMIC ISSUE 185 SOLD OUT!
Professional Comic Artists Choose 'Endgame' Art Favorites
Friday, October 31, 2008
Spawn Issue 185 arrived in comic book shops this week, and the response has been phenomenal - an immediate distribution-level sell-out!
"Obviously it's good news to have the initial issue sell out so quickly, but now the bigger task is to continue that momentum in the issues going forward," says Todd McFarlane. "As a reminder, the first few issues will be a lot of set up before we kick this into high gear. Each issue isn't meant to be its own stand alone book."
If you haven't picked up #185 yet - you'd better hurry. It's already a true collector's issue.
COMIC ARTISTS CHOOSE THEIR FAVORITE 'ENDGAME' CONTEST ENTRIES
Our Spawn: Endgame Art Contest went even better than we expected! More than 1,800 of you cast your votes, and our top two winners were crowned last week. Congratulations to the winners; you've been honored by your peers, and your original Whilce Portacio art is on its way!
As the entries started to stream in, we knew that two prizes just wouldn't be enough. We couldn't wait to hear what pieces the fans liked best... but we thought you might be interested in what the professionals' picks were! We sent all 25 finalists' pieces to three legendary comic book artists, and asked them for their picks.
Check out our surprise panel of professional judges:
Greg Capullo, long-time Spawn artist
Whilce Portacio, new Spawn artist
Todd McFarlane, original Spawn artist and creator of Spawn
These creative giants each chose their favorite.
#14, "Burn World, Burn!" by Bruno Vergauwen
#11, "Light Within Darkness" by Eric Esculier
#12, "Spawn Evolved" by Hector Arce
Congratulations to all three! Each of you will be receiving a special Spawn #185 Endgame prize. You'll get each of the cover variants - and each book is signed by Todd McFarlane himself.
